Group Facilitation Training Delivered By Nathan Gould (PTSTA(P), UKATA, EATA; Registered with the UKCP).
Nathan Gould is a Psychotherapist and workshop leader, Co-Principal of WWICP, Senior. Nathan is a Transactional Analyst working with individuals, groups, and couples. He specialises in working with issues around anger, rage and anxiety.
Aims and Objectives:
Opportunities for a mix of personal reflection, didactic teaching and group discussion.
Module 1: Group Imago
We will explore attendees preconceptions about Groups based on their own previous experience of a variety of group settings including their family of origin. This reflection will be used to understand the theory of group imago and how a changing imago will cause disturbance within the group process. This will also be linked to Tuckman’s stages of group development.
Module 2: Group Structure
Berne’s theory of Group Structure offers an important addition to the theory of group dynamics. It has been particularly useful in helping to understand the changed dynamic when working with groups in an online environment. Attendees will learn the relevance of the Internal and External Group boundaries. By combining this theory with the concept of Group Imago attendees will have a solid understanding of how and why participants will act out within a group environment.
Module 3: Managing Group Process
We will build on the theory from the first 2 modules to explore practical interventions to manage group process with particular focus on managing conflict in the group.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this training participants will have a solid working model of Group Process. In addition they will have a toolkit of practical interventions to manage difficult processes within a group setting. Practitioners will feel confident facilitating in a range of group settings.
